Intersections are places where people meet, pass one another by, or collide. All of these have happened as congregations and denominations have engaged (or have not engaged) in listening to Scripture and to people who are LGBTQIA. Some (like me) had assumed for a long time that there was a straightforward process for interpreting Scripture; that there was one faithful interpretation of Scripture on almost everything that mattered, and that there was no need to understand differing convictions on same-sex relationships. Amongst other factors, the recent debates and divisions in the Anglican Church of Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia prompted me to reconsider these assumptions. In the process of doing this I have had existing friendships challenged and strengthened, made new and deeply valued friendships, and have been intensely frustrated at the lack of resourcing for "ordinary" people or congregations to hear and love God and others more through this debate.
